HB 509 to Expedite Assisted Living Inspection

At a hearing of the Ohio House Aging & Long-term Care Committee on February 20, Representative Fraizer (R-Newark) provided sponsor testimony on a bill that would allow residential care facilities (RCFs) who are undergoing a renovation to pay a fee to expedite the inspection conducted by the Department of Health as part of the licensure process.

“Currently only new facilities have the option to pay this expedited fee,” said Rep. Fraizer. “With these current inspections, facilities are unable to predict inspection times and are willing to pay an additional fee to ensure timelines to on-board new patients.”

LeadingAge Ohio is reviewing HB 509 and will be providing comment at future hearings. LeadingAge Ohio members wishing to weigh in on the bill should email Susan Wallace, Director of Government Relations & Public Affairs at swallace@leadingageohio.org.
