Foundation Executive Director Opportunity

Genacross Lutheran Services in Toledo, Ohio is a multi-service, multi-site social ministry organization serving more than 3,600 people annually across all generations, from youth to senior adult, with over 700 dedicated staff and a broad volunteer base. Since their founding, Genacross Lutheran Services has continued to expand to meet the needs of those they serve and today supports various community programs that are in keeping with their mission. All of this is possible with the generous support of some 2,500 donors who share in their mission. In 2019, Genacross provided $6.5 million in charitable care and community benefits.

Reporting to the President and CEO of Genacross Lutheran Services and to the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, the Executive Director of the Genacross Lutheran Services Foundation is the chief development officer for the organization. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team of Genacross Lutheran Services, the Executive Director is responsible for leading and strengthening a comprehensive fundraising program in support of the Foundation’s mission and goals. Specific emphasis is focused on annual giving, major giving, planned giving, grants and fundraising events. The Executive Director will strive to build a greater understanding and support for both Genacross Lutheran Services and the Foundation’s mission, vision, and goals in the region.

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least five years of increasingly responsible fundraising experience preferably in a foundation or healthcare setting with evidence of continued growth through education and participation in professional fundraising organizations. This position will play a key role in advancing the organization’s mission and will be responsible for creating a strategic plan for the Foundation in conjunction with the Foundation Board that will strengthen areas of annual giving, special events, capital projects and campaign donations, planned giving and grant awards to support reaching strategic plan goals. (S)he must have previous accomplishments in cultivating and expanding donor relationships, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills including public speaking to small and large audiences to increase awareness and appreciation of the Foundation and all aspects of Genacross Lutheran Services. A Bachelor's degree is required and documented success in leading and managing the development function in a not-for-profit. Previous grant writing experience required and CFRE preferred.
