Findings from Employee Health and Wellness Benefit Survey now available
Last month, LeadingAge Ohio wrapped up the Employee Health and Wellness Benefits Survey which evaluated the current state of benefits offered to full time, part time and PRN staff across LeadingAge Ohio membership. Recent studies have shown that competitive and unique benefit offerings are significant for staff recruitment and retainment. The Employee Health and Wellness Benefits Survey results assist in understanding current benefit trends for full-, part-, and PRN (as needed) direct care staff.
Key findings include:
- Health insurance and Paid Time Off were the most used traditional benefits for Full Time Direct Care Staff, and Paid Time Off and 401k/retirement benefits were most used by Part Time Direct Care Staff.
- The most offered non-traditional benefits for full-time and part-time staff are retention bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and access to credentials/certifications and the least offered are childcare reimbursement and financial literacy programs.
- Flexible/PRN staff are offered paid time off and 401k benefits more than any other traditional benefit.
- Overwhelmingly, the most commonly cited reason for not offering staff more non-traditional/unique benefits is due to lack of funding.

This week, the LeadingAge Ohio Workforce Committee discussed the implication of the survey, particularly the emerging trends in the PRN workforce. Questions may be directed to Workforce Director, Randi Hamill, at rhamill@leadingageohio.org.
