ODA announces new funding for adult day, senior centers

On a Wednesday webinar, representatives of the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) announced the availability of a new round of relief funding for Ohio’s adult day and senior centers. In late 2020, ODA made $15.2 million available to these providers, but only $4.8 million was ultimately distributed. The new opportunity will make the remaining funds—over $10.3 million—again available to providers, this time with a deadline extended through June 30, 2021.

To apply for funding, providers must first create a supplier ID before visiting the Office of Budget & Management grants portal to submit an application.  In addition to demographic information, the application includes a number of additional questions, including the funds an organization has received from the state to-date, and estimates of both expenses and losses incurred by the provider as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The application window opens today and will close on April 9. ODA estimates it will take weeks to process the applications prior to issuing the awards.

LeadingAge Ohio strongly encourages all adult day members apply for the funds. Questions may be directed to Susan Wallace, Chief Policy Officer at swallace@leadingageohio.org.

LeadingAge Ohio all-member call: Tuesday, March 23 at 11:30AM

Questions abound on how recently released CDC recommendations on quarantining and CMS guidance on visitation align with Ohio’s 6th Amended Order. Employment law questions are also emerging, e.g. can new hires be required to have proof of vaccination?

LeadingAge Ohio will hold an all-member call on these topics on Tuesday, March 23 at 11:30AM. Members can register in advance and should send all questions for the call to COVID19@leadingageohio.org.  The call will also allow participants to ‘chat’ questions.

Fundraising professionals: Survey response requested

COVID-19 has upended many of the traditional tools used in fundraising, closing some doors, opening others. In order to identify the best next steps to meet members’ needs, please direct this brief (less than 5 min) survey to the individual in your organization responsible for fundraising. Please respond no later than end of day Friday, March 19.

Don’t miss out! Submit an authorization form today for the 2021 compensation survey

It’s not too late for members to submit an authorization form to participate in the 2021 LeadingAge Ohio compensation survey. This authorization form submission enables access to the portal for inputting data. Deadline to submit data for the compensation survey is April 23.

So far over 215 LeadingAge Ohio members have submitted forms to participate in this year’s survey. Those organizations that participate in the survey will receive the survey results at no cost. Not only will the data serve providers, but it will also help inform LeadingAge Ohio’s advocacy efforts on important workforce challenges.

A feature in this year’s survey is the capture of vacation/PTO data to help members understand how paid time off, especially for hourly workers, is handled with other organizations. The survey results can be customized for geographic comparisons. We encourage all members to participate. Members interested in participating in the survey must complete the Authorization and Verification Form and send to Jennifer Taylor at jtaylor@leadingageohio.org
