CMS Releases Updated Facility Assessment Tool for Nursing Facilities

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Quality Improvement Organization has recently updated its optional Facility Assessment Tool, now available for nursing facilities. 

This tool, designed to help facilities assess their resources and resident care needs, must be customized to reflect each facility's unique characteristics. The tool is organized into three sections: resident profiles, services and care based on resident needs, and facility resources required to provide competent care.

Facilities are encouraged to use a range of sources, such as MDS reports, Quality Measures, and other internal data, to complete the assessment.
