Aberrant Behaviors: Mitigating Medication Risk in Hospice Care

Restricted medications are often used in end of life care for symptom management. As the number of people in society with substance use disorder increases, hospice must employ the use of risk mitigation strategies to ensure safe and effective use of restricted medications.
This presentation will review various tools that can help stratify risk based on patient-specific assessment factors and offer guidance on mitigation strategies that hospices may utilize in caring for this challenging patient population. A review of currently available literature will be included.
