You asked... We answered regarding training for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

You Asked:

What training does the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) require facilities to provide their staff for residents experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

We Answered:

CMS does not mandate a specific training, but rather states that staff must have the appropriate competencies and skill sets to care for residents with mental and psychosocial disorders, as well as residents with a history of trauma and/or post-traumatic stress disorder. CMS does mention the following resources in the State Operations Manual Appendix PP:

LeadingAge has also developed a Trauma Informed Care Toolkit. An additional resource is the Quality Improvement Organization trauma informed care resource document.
