This week, State Representative Beth Liston joined LeadingAge Ohio to tour Friendship Village of Dublin and discuss legislative priorities. Dr. Beth Liston is serving in her second term as a member of the Ohio House, representing the Northwest Corner of Franklin County. She is one of three physicians in the legislature and the only physician serving in the Ohio House. She earned her MD and PhD at the Ohio State University and is currently working as a hospitalist at OSU's Wexner Medical Center and at Nationwide Children's Hospital in addition to her role in the Ohio House of Representatives.
LeadingAge Ohio and the team at Friendship Village of Dublin shared legislative priorities heading into the lame duck sessions this fall, including the distribution of ARPA HCBS funds to support adult day and PACE expansion, and crucial support for nursing facilities through interim rebasing. The upcoming SFY 2024-2025 state budget was also discussed, as well as provider pressure points like survey and nurse licensing.
The visit is just one of a series of visits that LeadingAge Ohio is encouraging during the summer recess. With significant ARPA dollars still unspent and providers struggling to emerge from the double blow of COVID and workforce shortages, it’s important that state policymakers hear from those who serve their districts. LeadingAge Ohio looks forward to visiting next week with Senator George Lang at Community First Solutions in Hamilton.
