On Friday, January 17, members of four LeadingAge Ohio Committees, as well as the LeadingAge Ohio PAC Committee, convened in Columbus for a full-day retreat dedicated to developing LeadingAge Ohio’s policy agenda for 2020 and 2021. Members of the Advocacy Committee, the Nursing Facility/Assisted Living Subcommittee, the Affordable Housing Subcommittee and the Home Health, Hospice & Home- and Community-based Services Subcommittees were in attendance.
LeadingAge Ohio Director of Government Relations Susan Wallace and legislative counsel Bridget McAuliffe led a morning discussion of the legislative landscape, noting significant change in the past year with new House leadership, a new administration, and a strong budget for aging services. During the afternoon, committee members engaged with possible policy solutions which ranged from expanding palliative care funding to advancing affordable long-term care models, including housing-based models and affordable assisted living.
