Efforts to Educate Providers on Weapons Policy Underway

The LeadingAge Learning Hub is offering a webinar which will outline relevant 2nd Amendment, federal and state requirements that may impact a senior living community’s ability to restrict or ban weapons on campus. 

The webinar will be held Thursday, October 10 2-3 p.m. ET.

In the wake of recent mass shootings, many LeadingAge members are considering instituting weapons policies. This webinar will review various laws which may affect how providers can, or cannot, restrict the possession of firearms on their campus, and the policy and legal considerations that may arise.

Following the presentation, participants will be able to: 

• Understand the laws affecting possession of weapons by an individual in his/her residence, including unique considerations for residents in independent living areas.
• Delve into laws affecting the possession of weapons by visitors, employees, vendors, security personnel and others on your campus.
• Determine options for establishing policies for employees who serve a security role as well as emergency preparedness for hostile acts.
