On October 12, 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2019 Medicare Part A and B premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance. The standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B will be $135.50 in 2019, up from $134 in 2018. Correspondingly, the annual deductible for Medicare Part B beneficiaries will increase to $185 in 2019, from $183. About 2 million Medicare beneficiaries subject to a hold harmless provision in federal law will not incur increases in their Part B premiums.
Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug plan premiums and deductibles were previously finalized and are unaffected by this announcement. For Medicare Part A, the inpatient deductible for hospital admittance will be $1,364 in 2019, compared to $1,340 in 2018 and the daily coinsurance in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) for days 21 through 100 will be $170.50 in 2019 ($167.50 in 2018).
