Providers should have received the communication below from UHC regarding change in transportation brokers from MTM to National MedTrans.
Effective Oct. 1, 2018, National MedTrans (MedTrans) replaced Medical Transportation Management (MTM) as the transportation benefit provider for UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Ohio members. This means members will need to contact MedTrans to schedule and arrange their non-emergency medical transportation.
What This Means for Providers
There’s no action required from you during the transition. Members have begun receiving information about MedTrans and scheduling their transportation beginning Oct. 1, 2018. As a provider, you can also call MedTrans directly at 800-269-4190 to arrange transportation on behalf of our members.
What This Means for Facilities
Facility transportation requests for cab/sedan and wheelchair must be called in to MedTrans for both Medicaid and MyCare members. Facilities can call 833-219-1176 to arrange facility transportation on behalf of our members. All non-emergent ambulance trips can be scheduled direct with the facility’s contracted ambulance provider or provider of choice as MedTrans will allow retro authorization for ambulance trips.
What This Means for Members
This vendor change will not affect the member’s transportation benefit or services. The only difference is the member will now contact MedTrans instead of MTM to arrange transportation for trips needed on October 1, 2018 and later.
Pre-scheduled or Recurring Rides
To ensure members have a smooth transition between vendors. Pre-scheduled and recurring trips have been transferred automatically to MedTrans. Members can also contact us at the Customer Service number on their ID card to check on their pre-scheduled or recurring trips if needed.
