Does a Residential Care Facility or Nursing Home have to contract with a vendor to complete a water management plan?

No, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has confirmed, facilities are not required to have their water management plan developed by a contracted vendor. ODH has reminded providers of free resources available on the ODH Legionella resources webpage and the CDC Developing a Legionella Water Management Program webpage. On this webpage, providers will find the Developing a Water Management Program to Reduce Legionella Growth & Spread in Buildings: A Practical Guide to Implementing Industry Standards toolkit. Additionally, LeadingAge has developed a water management plan for members that can be accessed within the Infection Control Requirements of Participation (RoP) Toolkit.
