Advance care planning across cultures: November 30 at 8:00AM

LeadingAge Ohio members are invited to join the monthly Honoring Wishes Networking meeting as Donna Skurzak, MA, CDP describes the cultural insights needed to assist individuals wanting to complete advanced care planning documents. The Honoring Wishes Task Force is a statewide coalition of associations, providers, advocates and other stakeholders working to improve healthcare decision-making and communication in Ohio. 

Recently, the Task Force funded the translations of the Ohio’s advance directives into four commonly-spoken languages: Spanish, Arabic, Nepali and Somali. 

Skurzak served 15 years as Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Cleveland Clinic. She has worked across the healthcare continuum as a practitioner, administrator, and healthcare leader in hospice, and as a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practitioner in a complex healthcare system. In this session, Skurzak will review key considerations for advance care planning in Ohio and the cultural competencies needed to address quality of life and advance directive review across cultures.
