ODM Releases Authorized Representative Tool at LeadingAge Ohio’s Urging
LeadingAge Ohio approached the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) about developing a tool for providers to share with residents about authorized representatives (AR) for Medicaid purposes and the role that nursing homes can play in assisting families through the Medicaid eligibility process. In response, ODM has released an “Medicaid AR Flyer”, which was developed by a team that included LeadingAge Ohio staff and members, and staff from both ODM and the Ohio State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. The flyer includes the following information:
- Who can be an AR?
- How is an AR is designated?
- What are the duties of an AR?
The tool is also posted on ODM’s nursing facility webpage in a format that can be downloaded for sharing. The flyer has been shared with all NF associations and with the Ohio County Job and Family Services.
