Member execs join together to Drive Toward Workforce Solutions at 2019 LeadingAge Ohio Leadership Summit

LeadingAge Ohio member executives and guests joined together on Tuesday June 4 to attend the 2019 Leadership Summit in Dublin at The Conference Center. The topic was Driving Toward Workforce Solutions, and the event featured many distinguished speakers from across the country, as well as a CareSource-sponsored poverty simulation by ThinkTank Inc.

Most impactful was the Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE), in which attendees assumed different roles in a detailed simulation of the obstacles that are faced, the decisions that are made and the consequences that impact families living in poverty every day -- many of whom may be members’ employees. COPE also revealed how the policies and systems within our organizations help or hinder the progress of these families.

Speakers from Minnesota, Michigan and Washington DC covered a variety of topics and engaged with the LeadingAge Ohio team on workforce strategies.

“I definitely came away with action items, a mind reeling with ideas, and energy and passion to continue the work,” said Otterbein’s Lois Mills. “It was my pleasure to help play a small part in this great day – on to more learning and application!”

“From the speakers to the COPE exercise, all was very well done and rewarding for our team,” said Scott Buchanan of the Ohio Masonic Home. “As a result of the impact of the [COPE] exercise, we are working to schedule our leadership at each campus to also go through the exercise.”

All members will receive a white paper recapping the Leadership Summit event in the coming weeks.
