Deffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by LifeSpire to conduct an executive search for Chief Operating Officer (COO).
LifeSpire of Virginia, located in Glen Allen (Richmond), Virginia, is a faith based not-for-profit senior living organization with a single mission of empowering individuals through choices in purposeful living. Comprised of a family of four non-profit Life Plan Communities, a newly acquired community offering Independent and Assisted Living, an At Home Program, and a growing Foundation, LifeSpire combines passion and expertise to provide outstanding senior living options to individuals of all faiths across the mid-Atlantic region. LifeSpire communities are vibrant, enriching centers providing a fulfilling and worry-free lifestyle for approximately 1,375 residents served by 1,065 dedicated staff. Annual revenue is approximately $95 million, and the organization is Fitch rated.
Reporting to the CEO, the COO will monitor operations and play a key role in strategy development that aligns with LifeSpire’s values and ensures its commitment to excellence. Directing overall operations through leadership, management, and vision, the COO will provide oversight while working collaboratively and alongside others to be part of ongoing solutions, empowering team members to take ownership of their roles. A person of sound judgment with a passion for serving older adults, the COO will successfully merge mission and margin in decision-making, strengthen current operations and internal systems, and create and implement innovative growth strategies.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced operations professional within senior living/health and wellness and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field. Ten+ years of healthcare operational experience with 5+ years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in a service based not-for-profit organization and within a CCRC, is highly desired, as well as a valid Virginia NHA license or the ability to obtain one. A key attribute for success is a passion for futuristic thinking from a resident/customer standpoint for continuous quality improvement and innovation. The COO will recognize LifeSpire’s stature in the community, enhance its outstanding reputation through relationship-building, and desire a long-term commitment of progressive service to the organization.
