Covenant Woods is a premier not-for-profit continuing care retirement community offering the full continuum of care, a home care division, hospice program and catering service on 90+ rolling acres with wonderfully open spaces and nature trails. Located 12 miles north of Richmond in beautiful Hanover County, its Mechanicsville setting offers a one-of-a-kind blend of rural and suburban living. Medicare-certified and CARF-accredited, Covenant Woods has annual revenue of $36 million and serves over 400 residents with approximately 300 dedicated staff members.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall performance of Covenant Woods. Also responsible for executing vision, managing and developing outstanding staff, and ensuring the organization maintains its ethical standards and regulatory compliance, the CEO embraces innovation and collaboration. An industry leader who embraces participation in the local community as well as sector-related associations (LeadingAge, etc.), the CEO maintains a positive and interactive relationship with Covenant Woods’ vibrant resident population and has a deep commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a graduate of an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in a related field. (S)he should also have a MBA, MPH, MHA or equivalent professional work experience, a valid Nursing Home Administrator license, and five to ten years of management experience with at least five years of healthcare or continuing care retirement community administration experience. (S)he will have a thorough knowledge of management principles, business procedures and practices, and a good record of fiscal management. A strategic thinker and visionary leader who seeks creative ways to address the need of future seniors through diversification and services and continued organizational growth, our finalist will be a person of integrity, compassion, and care who has outstanding communication skills and desires a long-term commitment of service to the organization.
