  • Plans, conducts and evaluates organized orientation and training programs for all newly hired STNA associates which are scheduled on a regular basis. Monitors new hire satisfaction and orientation progress, proficiency and completion.
  • Tracks, using an organized systematic approach, the educational requirements for STNA staff in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Plans and coordinates the annual skills proficiency checkoff and monthly training program calendar in collaboration with other facility management team members and organizational resources.
  • Facilitates the LCS Clinical Programs for skin/wounds, infection control and prevention, antibiotic stewardship, and pain management. This includes education, monitoring and measurement, and ongoing evaluation of compliance and proficiency of program components.
  • Coordinates instructors with expertise in the appropriate discipline to improve and develop skills of STNA staff members. Utilizes community resources for training programs.
  • Conducts regular review of 24-hour report, incident report review, point of care compliance and accuracy for identification of items for action.
  • Facilitates regular review of point of care (POC) and call light acceptance compliance for identification of items for action and/or improvement.
  • Participation and coordination with Director of Nursing for on-call schedule.
  • Monitors outcome of associate training sessions with regard to skills taught and session evaluations.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee and makes recommendations for areas of improvement through performance improvement process initiation.
  • Ensures and regularly audits new resident admission assessment and surrounding documentation, daily skilled documentation, baseline care plan document for compliance and completeness with accuracy.
  • Directly supervises oversight of short stay/skilled residents including admission audits, medication reconciliation, pain management and resident satisfaction.
  • Monitors overall resident satisfaction including short stay admission and discharge satisfaction scores, comments and concerns collected by satisfaction collection tools.
  • Coordinates and facilitates Health Center STNA scheduling, ensuring appropriate staffing ratios are satisfied.
  • Coordinates the activities of student-interns engaged in learning programs within the licensed care facility(s) from various learning institutions.
  • Assists in facilitation of weekly physician meeting to represent acute clinical care needs summary and follow up planning.
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
  • Coordinates and participates in weekly wound care rounding in coordination with contracted wound specialty physician services.
  • Participates in family/resident counseling.
  • Participation in weekly resident-centered care meetings to include by not limited to: Utilization Review, Risk Management, Initial Baseline Care Plan Meeting, bi-weekly Staffing Meeting, scheduled care conference meetings.
  • Functions in the capacity of Director of Nursing in his/her absence.
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.

Qualifications:

  • RN currently licensed in the State
  • At least 2 years of training and development experience and/or managerial experience in long term care preferred.
  • Ability to understand, follow and support established policies and procedures of the facility; ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately; ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments efficiently; ability to work effectively with minimum supervision; ability to adapt teaching to the situation and diversity of learners.
  • Current CPR certification. Computer literacy encouraged.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Leadership, and teaching skills required.  Understanding and empathy of the uniqueness of the needs of the elderly required.
