Vice President, Project Development

As a ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC) has been providing senior living and care to individuals for more than a century. A leader in faith-based senior living and continuing care, it is the nation’s fifth largest non-profit senior services provider. Headquartered in Skokie, Illinois, CRC serves 5,000 residents and employs a dedicated team of approximately 3,200 staff members. CRC is transforming and will be known as Covenant Living Communities & Services within the year. It also is pursuing transformational growth both in terms of service offerings and locations and is looking to add a Vice President, Project Development to participate in its growth journey.

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, Project Development (VP) will oversee all facets of major construction development projects and work closely with campuses on any ongoing or future renovation projects. (S)he is responsible for facilitating each phase of the development process:  pre-development and planning through construction and occupancy. The position develops work plans for projects and produces regular reports to track progress from planning to operational start-up of the program. The successful finalist will understand the importance of gaining buy-in and building consensus and will work collaboratively with others, keeping communication lines open with those affected by projects and forming strong partnerships with the central office team and campus leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree (required) and ten plus years experience in senior living as a professional developer or real estate development experience. (S)he will have an understanding of the full scope of development including market studies, financial projections and operating plans. The successful candidate must possess the ability to critically think and make decisions quickly and accurately, with both a regional and organization wide mindset and must have a continuous improvement mindset and ability to visualize and implement process improvements in a matrix environment. Preferably Chicago based, but not required.
